Breastfeeding Friendly Childcare

Resources are improving for convenient training for early childhood professionals about proper handling and feeding of breastmilk and how to support breastfeeding families.


Pages 37-40 in Chapter 2 of Oklahoma State Department of Health's Good Health Handbook give guidelines for storage, handling and feeding of breastmilk.
Free online STARS training course:  Let’s Move! Child Care: Breastfeeding Support by the University of Washington Center for Public Health Nutrition.

Let’s Move! Child Care: Breastfeeding Support is a training course for early childhood professionals about how to support breastfeeding moms and babies and the benefits of doing so. The training was developed and is maintained by state-approved trainers at the University of Washington Center for Public Health Nutrition. The material in this training has been adapted from the national Let’s Move! Child Care training on infant feeding. Participants who complete the training will earn 1 STARS continuing education credit in Health, Safety & Nutrition.
